HOUSTON, TEXAS, USA 16 December 2002The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers, Inc. (IISRP) has completed the speaker’s program for its 44th Annual General Meeting in Beijing, 19-22 May 2003, James L. McGraw, IISRP Managing Director & CEO has announced. The theme of the 44th AGM is Elastomers…Innovation & Forward Vision.
McGraw noted this is the first time the IISRP has conducted their AGM in the P.R. of China. The Executive Committee selected China, as this is the region having the most robust economic climate.
Following two days of administrative business meetings, the General Session I will open on 21 May with a keynote address from Dr. Damian Cummins, Deputy Director of BASF-YPC where he will present BASF’s experience in establishing a business in China. Other Session I speakers include:
- Dr. Gunter Festel of A.D. Little Switzerland who will give an assessment of the elastomers industry “from the outside looking in”.
- Mr. Gary Miller of the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company who will provide a strategic overview of elastomer competition.
- Mr. Zhang, Yong of Sinopec who will speak on the rubber market and demand in China.
- General Session II will feature Mr. David Whitman, Director of Worldwide Purchasing at General Motors in Shanghai who will deliver the opening address. Rounding out Session II will be:
- Dr. Qiao Jinliang of the Beijing Research Institute who will speak on emerging nanoelastomer technology.
- Mr. Yang, Jigang of PetroChina speaking on EPDM technology at Lanzhou Chemical Industry.
- Mr. James L. McGraw of the IISRP will deliver his report to the membership.
The IISRP is an international not-for-profit trade association with 47 corporate members domiciled in 21 countries producing more than 90% of the world’s supply of synthetic rubber. Incorporated in 1960 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, the Institute supports regional offices in London and Tokyo.
