HOUSTON, TEXAS USA, 24 June, 2003The International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers (IISRP), which has been forced to change the dates of its 44th annual general meeting in Beijing, China, twice this year, has reconfirmed 21-25 September as the dates for the meeting, according to James L. McGraw, IISRP Managing Director & CEO.
“Reconfirmation of the dates was made possible by the World Health Organization’s lifting of its advisory against travel to Beijing due to the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in China earlier this year” McGraw said.
“The decision paves the way for us to move forward and finalize the venue,” he added. “We are excited for our members and those close to our industry and we are pleased to be able to conduct our AGM in Beijing.”
Originally scheduled to be held in mid-May, the meeting was first postponed to 15-18 September due to the SARS outbreak, then postponed again to 21-25 September due to scheduling conflicts among suppliers to the meeting.
“But because the World Health Organization has had a travel advisory against travel to Beijing, even the 21-25 September dates have been iffy until now,” Mr. McGraw said. “But now with the travel advisory lifted, it’s full speed ahead.”
Participants who originally registered to attend the mid-May meeting will not be required to register again. The meeting is still open to all new registrations at www.iisrp.com/agm.
